He’s written an opera, Don Juan Triumphant, and it will be performed. He shows up to the ball, where he makes his demands of the opera house. What makes it even worse is the fact that Raoul and Christine have gotten engaged, which Christine is trying to keep secret so that the Phantom doesn’t find out. Time for a New Years’ Masquerade (” Masquerade”), and for another song that I genuinely like!Ĭarlotta and the theatre owners are also talking about how happy they are the the Phantom isn’t around anywhere, which is tempting ALL of fate. CAN WE STOP IT WITH THE GODDAMN CUTS TO THE FUTURE, THEY DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! It just breaks the flow of the movie! Because we flash forward, then IMMEDIATELY flash back. Inexplicably back in 1919, old Raoul remembers his past love with Christine, and YEAH. He curses them both, and uh, yeah…INCEL RAAAAAAAAAGE!!! But, yeah, the Phantom’s pretty goddamn heartbroken, not to mention betrayed and pissed off (” All I Ask of You Reprise”). Phantom’s just watching this whole thing go down, and the two get off of the rooftop together. The two declare their love for each other on the rooftop (like you do), and they embrace and kiss. A little repetitive, though, if I’m honest. But the song! The song is quite nice, as is the music. Raoul sings to her, and she sings right back (” All I Ask of You”), and yeah…yeah, I like this song as well. Again, no real buildup to that, but whatever. Anyway, the Phantom is actually listening the whole time, and seems to realize the Christine and Raoul are in love. OK, so on the roof, Christine is warning Raoul about the Phantom, and he…doesn’t believe her. LET’S GET THIS OVER WITH.įirst part of the Recap is right here! Recap (2/2) February 19, 2021: The Phantom of the Opera (Part 2) …So, this is considered a bad movie, isn’t it? Shit.
